Departments, Programs of Study and Courses

Departments


Engineering has 12 Departments and Schools and one program, Systems Engineering.

The Departments of Computer Science and Information Science are actually in the Faculty of Computing and Information Science (CIS) but offer engineeering majors. Biological and Environmental Engineering is in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) but offers an engineering major. Earth and Atmospheric Sciences is joint between Engineering and CALS.

 Majors (B.S.)


Undergraduate students in engineering spend most of their first two years in the Common Curriculum, which is administered by the College Curriculum Governing Board (CCGB). At the end of their third semester, students affiliate with one of the majors given below. The majors BE, ChemE, CE, ECE, EnvEng, MSE, and ME are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

 Undergraduate Minors


Undergraduate students may pursue minors in any department in any college that offers them, subject to limitations placed by the department offering the minor or by the students’ major. Completed minors will appear on the student’s transcript. Not all departments offer minors. Consult the list below or contact the appropriate department for information on a specific minor and how to pursue a minor. For more information on minors see Engineering Minors .

Master of Engineering Programs (M.Eng.)


The following 30-credit professional master of engineering (M.Eng.) degrees are offered:
