Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress

Federal Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy

Federal regulations (CFR 668.34) require that Cornell University review the academic progress of students who apply for and/or receive financial assistance. Satisfactory academic progress is comprised of three areas as required by federal regulations. A student must complete their degree within a specified maximum timeframe, demonstrate they are progressing through their program at a pace that will ensure graduation within the maximum timeframe, and achieve a GPA that is consistent with meeting graduation requirements. This regulation applies to each financial aid applicant, whether a previous aid recipient or not. Failure to make satisfactory academic progress may affect a student’s eligibility for financial aid. More detailed information regarding the Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements for your program can be found on the Office of Financial Aid and Student Employment website
