THETR 2430 - Introduction to Dramatic Writing

An introduction to the craft, structure, and fundamentals of dramatic writing, this class will cover careful analysis of plays, films and television from a writer’s perspective, as well as the reading and discussion of texts on the art of writing for performance. A variety of writing approaches will be explored through in class exercises, assignments, and revisions, and some class time will be spent each week on workshopping student generated writing. The semester will culminate in a portfolio of writing and the presentation of a short piece for stage or screen.
