AEM 6600 - Agroecosystems, Economic Development, and the Environment

Examines selected topics in agricultural and economic development, technology assessment, ecosystem management and the environment, with a focus on developing countries. Topics include production, poverty, and environmental trade-offs; sustainable technology development; trade and environment linkages; economics of conservation and development; and alternative methodologies for analyzing these interactions. Readings emphasize the economic literature, but also draw from the biophysical sciences, ecosystem management, and the broader social sciences.
