A survey of current approaches to the archaeological record of Stone Age peoples, from the earliest sites to those of recent times. Case studies are used to illustrate the nature of archaeological occurrences, excavation procedures, and analytical methods. Multidisciplinary efforts to expand our knowledge of prehistoric lifeways and behaviors are a major concern of the course. (Comparative Survey)
