CHEM 2150 - Honors General and Inorganic Chemistry

Fall 4 credits. Letter grades only.

Forbidden Overlap: Students may not receive credit for both CHEM 2150 and CHEM 2080 . Prerequisites: two years high school chemistry or permission of instructor, physics, and mathematics. Corequisite: calculus course at level of MATH 1110  or MATH 1910  for students who have not taken high school calculus. Chem 2150 has a $20 nonrefundable lab fee that covers cost of safety goggles, lab apron and breakage. Limited enrollment. Recommended for students who intend to specialize in chemistry or in related fields.

Intensive systematic study of the laws and concepts of chemistry, with considerable emphasis on quantitative aspects. Chem 2150 covers thermochemistry, kinetics, and equilibrium. Laboratory work covers qualitative and quantitative analysis, transition metal chemistry, and spectroscopic techniques.
