NBA 5090 - Advanced Financial Statement Analysis

Fall. 1.5 credits.

Prerequisite: NBA 5060, finance immersion course, or permission of instructor. Enrollment is limited to: students who have not completed 3-credit version of NBA 5061.

This course, which builds on NBA 5060, will include three integrated modules: (1) accounting for mergers and acquisitions, consolidation accounting, and foreign currency financial statements; (2) research information on mergers
and acquisitions and financial analysis of financial and industrial companies; and (3) financial analysis of property and casualty (P&C) insurers, including GAAP and statutory accounting requirements and how P&C insurance compares with Life and Health (L&H) insurance. Lectures and case problems will emphasize practical applications. Student performance in the course will be based on class participation (20 percent), a homework assignment (30 percent), and an integrated final exam (50 percent).
