BIOG 1108 - Introductory Biology II: From Cell to Biosphere

Prerequisite: one year of high school biology or permission of instructor.

Starting from the foundation laid in BIOG 1107, this course will examine the ways different biological systems interact at the levels of the cell, tissue, organism, population, and environment. Topics include signal transduction, the immune and nervous systems, embryonic development, a review of the major groups of organisms on earth and their evolutionary innovations, animal behavior, population genetics, and conservation. As with BIOG 1107, textbook readings, problem sets, discussions of the primary literature, and practice at designing experiments will be integral parts of the curriculum.
