ART 3601 - Photography: Identity and the Global Lens


Fall, spring, or summer. 4 credits.

Prerequisite: ART 2601 , or permission of instructor. Course lab fee dependent on media used: Black and White - $135; Color - $215; and Digital - $105.

Staff.

Investigates visual representation of identity in contemporary culture while considering the impact of global perspectives on the understanding and interpretation of self through the lens of race, gender, geography. This studio based course will consider visual practice in relation to critical theory using lecture, group critique, and film and video screenings. Image capture will be by medium format film and digital SLR 35 mm camera. Advanced black and white and color negative and print processes will be taught. Cameras are available on a daily loan basis.
