BIOMG 2810 - Genetics and Genomics


Fall. 5 credits.

Recommended prerequisite: BIOG 1500 . Not offered again. Not open to freshmen fall semester. Effective spring 2013 this course will be BIOMG 2800  and BIOMG 2801 . Lab signups done in first lecture. Lec, lab. Problem-solving sessions are strongly recommended. Biological sciences majors must take course for a letter grade.

General introduction to the fundamental principles of genetics in eukaryotes and bacteria. Topics include gene transmission, linkage, recombination, structure, mutations, and manipulation, as well as analysis of genomes in individuals and populations.
