This course has the broad aim of introducing students to historical and cultural aspects of the Mediterranean and contiguous zones as a physical and theoretical space in the Middle Ages. In order to create both a dynamic and an interdisciplinary dialogue between students and scholars, this course includes lectures and round-tables led by a number of visiting specialists whose work in a variety of disciplines has led to the coalescence of a growing field which might very well be termed “Mediterranean Studies.”
