BIOMG 2820 - Human Genetics (PBS) Fall. 3 credits.
Forbidden Overlap: Some of the information presented overlaps with the current BIOMG 2800 . This course is not recommended for students who have previously taken BIOMG 2800 . Prerequisite: BIOMG 1350 or two majors level biology courses.

A course designed for non-majors with a background in science. Lectures provide the technical background needed to understand recent scientific papers as well as the controversial personal, social and legal implications of modern genetics.
Outcome 1: To gain a basic knowledge of core concepts and methods in Human Genetics and Genomics.
Outcome 2: To be able to discuss intelligently the ethical, legal and social implications of the growing use of Genetics in medicine and forensics.
Outcome 3: To be able to read and interpret articles in recent research literature and to use human genetics databases.
