Introduces students to system dynamics concepts, terminology, and the modeling techniques applicable to biological, socioeconomic, and many other systems. The objective is to provide a common systems understanding and interdisciplinary framework to support subsequent research projects.

Outcome 1: Provide a sufficient understanding of system dynamics modeling to illustrate its application to a wide variety of problems and disciplines.

Outcome 2: Provide ability to conceptualize international development problems as parts of larger feedback systems, and to understand that solutions to such problems may have both intended and unintended consequences.

Outcome 3: Better abilities to engage in detailed interdisciplinary discussion about complex issues through the use of system dynamics modeling.

Outcome 4: Provide a reasonable ability to create system dynamics models, especially those that might be used to examine international development issues.

Outcome 5: Provide an ability to understand and critique system dynamics models, and perhaps other simulation models, that address these issues.
