CS 1810 - Topics in the Analysis and Transmission of Knowledge and Information

Spring. 2 credits. S-U grades only.

Staff.

The distinction between knowledge and information lies within the realm of philosophy, yet in the current highly networked computer mediated world, noisy data and noisy communication is ubiquitous. This course explores the issues relating to transmission of content and extraction of information in the three contexts of human-human, human-computer, and computer-computer. We also explore how the very nature of the problem changes as we move from one-to-one communication to many-to-many environments.
