ART 3308 - Print Media: Professional Collaboration and Studio Practices

Fall or spring. (Not offered every year) 4 credits.

Prerequisite: ART 2301 .

Staff.

This course integrates intaglio, lithography, relief, silkscreen, digital printing, laser cutting and CNC technology to address issues of the multiple from the perspectives of the artist, the print collaborator, and the curator.

Studio projects will be supplemented with lectures, reading assignments and field trips to NYC exhibits and studios such as Pace Editions, Harlan and Weaver and Two Palms Press. Students will then have the opportunity to work with an artist on a print publication or to collaboratively curate an exhibition.

In addition to developing their own print practice, students will be invited to consider printed matter as a critical device for crossdisciplinary practice, and will learn through observation and experience about the creative and business aspects, as well as the curatorial considerations, of fine art print collaboration and publishing.
