HADM 1740 - Business Computing


     
Fall, spring. 3 credits. Letter grades only.

Fall enrollment limited to: SHA freshmen and SHA transfer students only. Spring: open enrollment. Co-meets with HADM 2740 . Required.

Provides a foundation in information technology (IT) and how it relates to everyday business computing. Students learn IT concepts during lectures, and these concepts are reinforced in practical lab sessions using current standards of business computing. Topics include fundamental IT concepts; proficiency in Microsoft Office; understanding the issues of tool selection, standardization, and efficiency; integration of applications; and recognizing the importance of good computer management.

Outcome 1: PLO 1.1: Students will identify key issues and appropriately apply discipline principles to analyze a hospitality management solution.

Outcome 2: PLO 2.1: Students will create professional-quality written business documents.

Outcome 3: PLO 2.2: Students will plan and deliver a professional-quality oral presentation.

Outcome 4: PLO 2.4: Students will demonstrate effective use of information technology.

Outcome 5: PLO 4.2: Students will identify the personal goals and learning opportunities required for continued personal and professional development.
