STS 1121 - FWS: Gender and Science Spring. 3 credits. Letter grades only.
First-Year Writing Seminar.
M. Rossiter.
Why do so many women and minority students drop out of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields? Is this true at Cornell, the Alma Mater of so many top-ranked scientists (including Nobelist Barbara McClintock)? This course seeks to investigate this topic with a variety of projects and writing assignments that build from class descriptions and analyses of majors to the final research paper. Possibly using Cornell’s own University archives.
