DEA 4230 - [Design Charrette] (LAD-HE) Spring. Next offered 2018-2019. 1 credit. Letter grades only.
Prerequisite: minimum of two design studios or permission of instructor. Student must commit to full participation throughout the entire weekend experience. Minimum cost of materials: $50. Permission of instructor required. Enrollment limited to: junior or senior status. Priority given to: DEA Seniors. Limited to: 18 students. Occurs one weekend during the spring semester.

This intensive weekend-long course pushes the boundaries of current design practices by developing a concept plan for an innovative environment in a nontraditional setting. Students work in multi-disciplinary teams to develop solutions and prepare design presentations for review by visiting design professionals. Typologies include: restaurants, pop-up venues, and user experience phenomena.
Outcome 1: Explore innovation and creativity in temporal spatial experience (innovate in research, design or practice).
Outcome 2: Apply key issues related to progressive environments (comprehend disciplines and fields).
Outcome 3: Focus on effective team-work within the confines of one weekend (work effectively with others).
