GOVT 3988 - [Democracy, Dictatorships & US Foreign Policy] (crosslisted) AMST 3988 (GHB) (SBA-AS) Fall. Next offered 2018-2019. 4 credits. Letter grades only.
Prerequisite: an introductory course in comparative politics or international relations.
V. Bunce.
What drives U.S. foreign policy-American values, interests or both? Can we draw a clear distinction between support of democracies versus dictatorships during and after the Cold War? This course uses a series of historical and contemporary case studies, such as U.S. policies towards Iran, Guatemala, South Korea, Egypt and Eastern Europe, in order to answer these questions.
