What are the key concepts that articulate the Middle Ages?  How are these related among themselves?  How are these concepts expressed not only in literature, but also architecture and art, practices and relationships?  Can we identify contemporary situations, images, commonplaces that relate directly to these concepts?  This course aims to explore these questions through faith, love and adventure as expressed in the art and life of Medieval Spain while learning key vocabulary and methodologies to discuss the cultures and literature’s of Spain.  We will study texts and artifacts, buildings and practices specific to Iberia.  Readings will be provided weekly, and where appropriate, students will be asked to navigate specific web sites and study the materials in them.
