There has been an explosion of visual content, images and video, captured by novices and professionals alike, and shared on community photo collections. With recent deep learning methods, these large collections of visual data are being leveraged to recognize shapes, materials, and lighting, and activities in the world. We study modern approaches to understanding and constructing comprehensive visual models of the world.
The course will cover among other topics, deep learning for image classification, recognition and semantic segmentation of objects and materials; and reconstruction of geometry, material, and lighting.
