BEE 3310 - Bio-Fluid Mechanics

Fall. 4 credits. Letter grades only.

Prerequisite: MATH 1910 , MATH 1920 , MATH 2930 , ENGRD 2020 , basic knowledge in complex numbers.

S. Jung.

Properties of Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids; hydrostatic and dynamic forces; principles of continuity, conservations of mass, energy and momentum and their applications; laminar and turbulent flows and boundary layer, introduction to Navier Stokes; dimensional analysis and similarity; internal and external bio-fluid examples will be covered e.g. blood circulatory systems and animal locomotion.

Outcome 1: Students will apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering to define and solve problems in bio-fluid mechanics.

Outcome 2: Students will demonstrate improved ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs.

Outcome 3: Students will improve their ability to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems.

Outcome 4: Students will gain proficiency in use of the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice.
