Cornell Plantations is Cornell University’s arboretum, botanic garden, natural areas, and many on-campus gardens—places of exceptional beauty, diversity, and learning opportunities. Areas managed include over 3,400 acres of natural areas on and off campus in addition to the 100 acres in the F. R. Newman Arboretum and the 35 acres of botanical gardens in and around central campus.  Visit our year-round Brian C. Nevin Welcome Center for visiting information as well as for gifts, coffee and refreshments.

Gorges, gardens and other natural areas around campus and throughout Ithaca are what make Cornell one of the most beautiful university campuses worldwide. Hiking, biking, swimming and cross-country skiing are just a few ways to Take It Outside and enjoy these beautiful landscapes.  For hiking trails and running routes on campus, visit cornellplantations.org/trails. Cornell Plantations’ gardens, natural areas and public programs support Cornell’s academic mission and our staff can work with students, staff and faculty on independent studies, classes and research programs.
