Course Offerings

657 Frank H. T. Rhodes Hall
(607) 255-4335

The Center for Applied Mathematics administers a broad-based interdepartmental graduate program that provides opportunities for study and research over a wide range of the mathematical sciences. Each student develops a solid foundation in analysis, algebra, and methods of applied mathematics. The remainder of the graduate student’s program is designed by the student and his or her Special Committee. For detailed information on opportunities for graduate study in applied mathematics, students should contact the director of the Center for Applied Mathematics, 657 Frank H. T. Rhodes Hall.

There is no special undergraduate or Masters-level degree program in applied mathematics. Undergraduate and Masters-degree students interested in an application-oriented program in mathematics may select an appropriate program in the Department of Mathematics, the Department of Computer Science, or some department of the College of Engineering.

Graduate students in the center take courses related to their program of study that are offered by various departments.  Main areas of research interest of the center’s members include scientific computing and numerical analysis, dynamic systems, signal and image processing, mathematical finance, and mathematical biology.  Detailed descriptions of courses covering these topics and others can be found in the listings of the individual departments.
