Degree Programs


At the Cornell Tech campus .

Cornell Tech currently offers eight distinct masters programs. Ph.D. students are part of the Cornell Ph.D. program offered through the Graduate School and are admitted by their respective fields.

Master of Engineering (MEng) in Computer Science


Overview

With the degree awarded by the College of Engineering, this one-year program is an immersion of technical depth and advanced business education within the context of industry, market and user needs.

  • Instruction Mode: In-Person
  • Program Location: New York City
  • Length of Program: Full-Time, 30 credits

Coursework

  • Technical Courses Required to Complete: 18 credits
    • Students must take at least 18 credits from courses that are advanced and technical (5000 or above). At least 15 of those credits must come from CS courses. Most technical courses are three credits each.
  • Studio Courses Required to Complete: 8 credits
  • General Electives Required to Complete: 4 credits
    • Select from business, law, studio, and technical electives offered on campus. Please note: TECHIE 5310 - Business Fundamentals  must be taken as a prerequisite for all business courses.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Students may not enroll in more than 18 credits per semester without Program Director approval, which will be granted only in exceptional circumstance.
    • Students may only count a maximum of 2 credit hours graded as S/U towards the degree requirements. Classes that are only offered as S/U count towards this 2-credit limit. If students change a course that is more than 2 credits to “S/U”, then that entire course will not count as it is over the 2-credit limit.
    • All students must receive a B or higher in TECH 5900  and either TECH 5910 TECH 5920 , or TECH 5930 .
    • Only classes with a grade of C- or higher will count towards a student’s degree requirements.
    • Students must maintain at least a 2.5 GPA. Students who are not in good standing may be asked to leave the program.  

Master of Engineering (MEng) in Electrical & Computer Engineering


Overview

With the degree awarded by the College of Engineering, this one-year immersive program is designed to teach engineers, scientists, and quantitative analysts important state-of-the-art methods in signal processing, data science, and decision theory.

  • Length of Program: Full-Time, 30 credits

Master of Engineering (MEng) in Operations Research and Information Engineering


Overview

With the degree awarded by the College of Engineering, this one-year professional masters program prepares students with the skills to model, analyze and optimize decisions under uncertainty and provide business intelligence for the digital world.

  • Instruction Mode: In-Person
  • Program Location: New York City
  • Length of Program: Full-Time, 30 credits

Master of Science (MS) in Information Systems, Connective Media concentration


Overview

Offered through the Jacobs Institute - a two-year, highly technical program focusing on the technologies, platforms and ecosystems that are involved in the recent convergence of communication, information and media. Graduates of this program will receive two degrees: one from Cornell University and one from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. The Cornell degree is awarded by the Graduate School.

  • Length of Program: Full-Time, 60 credits

Master of Science (MS) in Information Systems, Health Tech concentration


Overview

Offered through the Jacobs Institute, a two-year, highly technical program where students learn to use technology to transform the healthcare industry. Graduates of this program will receive two degrees: one from Cornell University and one from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. The Cornell degree is awarded by the Graduate School.

Master of Science (MS) in Information Systems, Urban Tech concentration


Overview

Offered through the Jacobs Institute - a two-year, highly technical program focusing on the integration of Urban Design, Architecture and Computer Science to build smarter more interconnected cities. Students are trained to use technology to improve mobility and transportation, sustainable urban development, and urban systems. Graduates are prepared for leadership roles in mobile/consumer urban tech startups, real estate, utilities, construction, and NGOs. Graduates of this program will receive two degrees: one from Cornell University and one from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. The Cornell degree is awarded by the Graduate School.

Johnson Cornell Tech MBA


Overview

With the degree awarded by the SC Johnson College of Business, this 12-month program will allow students to earn an advanced business education that provides in-depth knowledge on the technologies, companies and industries changing the global landscape.

  • Length of Program: Full-Time, 50 credits

Overview

With the degree awarded by the Law School, this one-year program is tailored to practicing attorneys or recent law graduates who desire to be at the center of New York City’s ever-evolving technology ecosystem and at the intersection of law, technology and entrepreneurship.
