In this course, students will acquire a broad understanding of plant diseases, plant pathogens and plant disease management. Primary literature will be used to examine the diverse aspects of plant pathology, including disease dynamics at the cellular, organismal, and population level, and how diverse biotic and abiotic factors can influence these dynamics.

Outcome 1: Describe plant disease etiology, plant pathogen biology, and approaches to plant disease management.

Outcome 2: Evaluate primary literature in diverse aspects of plant pathology.

Outcome 3: Explain disease dynamics at the cellular level, at the organismal level and at the population level.

Outcome 4: Describe how diverse biotic and abiotic factors can influence these dynamics.
