PMA 6540 - Introduction to Film Analysis: Meaning and Value

Co-meets with PMA 2540 /VISST 2174 .  Limited to 10 graduate students.

Intensive consideration of the ways films generate meaning and of the ways we attribute meaning and value to films. Discussion ranges over commercial narrative, documentary, and personal film modes. Graduate students who intend to teach film at the undergraduate level are especially welcome. In addition to full participation in the work of PMA 2540 , graduate students read and discuss primary sources in film theory in weekly group tutorials. (HTC)
