With an emphasis on current events and world affairs, this course examines global governance and economic policy debates. We consider conflicts around markets, democracy, and global justice, including efforts aimed at economic recovery, reducing inequality, and the reform of national and global economic policy and institutions. We also look at distinctive types of political and economic organization, especially in Europe and the United States, and the capacities of these societies to meet current economic, political, and social challenges, both domestic and international.
