NBA 5700 - Johnson Team Leadership Experience

Fall. 1.5 credits.

Johnson School students only.

R. Mish.

This course is designed to provide you with training and experience in leading and contributing to high performing teams that: (1) set clear goals and objectives; (2) develop, implement, and enforce appropriate internal team norms; (3) effectively collaborate, taking maximum advantage of diverse strengths and backgrounds; (4) produce well-reasoned analyses of complex business problems; and (5) provide team members with appropriate constructive feedback from which further growth and development can occur.  The course begins with interactive lecture sessions, team problem solving activities, and individualized and collective strengths assessments, and then continues as a companion to the Fall Core, providing each student with experiential learning opportunities in the area of team leadership.  In assigned Core teams, each student will be responsible for leading at least one Core deliverable, and all students be responsible for providing each team leader with meaningful, constructive feedback on how well the team leader demonstrates the Johnson Leadership Model competencies,  models the norms identified in the Core Team Charter that each team will develop, and leverages the leader’s own strengths, the strengths of individual team members, and the collective strengths of the team as a whole.
