PLBR 4091 - Molecular Basis of Phenotype in Plant Breeding and Genetics Spring. 1 credit.
PLBR 4091, PLBR 4092 , PLBR 4093 may be taken individually or in sequence in one semester.
M. Mazourek.
This course provides a conceptual understanding of how natural variation contributes to qualitative and quantitative variation, how markers are used to track alleles and isolate them for study. The module will provide an overview of bi-parental and population methods used for trait dissection and gene discovery.
Outcome 1: Students will be able to choose appropriate genetic methods for trait discovery and plant improvement.
Outcome 2: Students will review genetics and heritability concepts.
