PE 1665 - Mountain Biking - Fall Break

Fall. 1 credit. S-U grades only.

Course fee charged.

Staff.

Fall Break. We’ll warm up on the renowned trails of nearby Shindagin Hollow State Forest, then take a road trip to Central Pennsylvania. We will spend four days touring a vast network of trails on our fat-tired contraptions. Cruise along old logging roads and single track trails, climb hills, navigate rock gardens and fly past pastoral fields; not without stopping to savor the fall foliage along the way. Designed for adventurous beginners with minimal off-road experience, as well as seasoned bikers looking to explore new destinations.  A balance of instruction and riding will cover: cycling and handling skills from cadence to navigating trail obstacles, equipment selection, environmentally conscious riding, map and compass use, riding etiquette, natural history and trail side repairs.  Expect to sleep under the stars, master the finer points of car camping, and return to Ithaca rejuvenated. Mountain bikes are available for use during this course.
