PE 1582 - Advanced Weight Training


Fall, Spring. 1 credit.

PE 1580 or at least one year of weight training experience. Course fee: TBA.

Staff.

The primary focus of this course will be learning and practicing the Olympic lifts (the snatch, clean and jerk and related exercises). These lifts will be studied in detail while working on building the strength and flexibility necessary for their proper performance. Additional topics will be determined based on the interests of the class. Possible topics might include: advanced programming for strength training, kettlebell training, training for sport performance, advanced muscle-building strategies and splits. Prerequisites: PE 1580 or at least one year of weight training experience, including familiarity with proper squat and deadlift technique. Enrollment in this class includes membership privileges in the Cornell Fitness Centers for the semester.
