MAE 6330 - Multiphase Flow Dynamics Fall. 3 credits. Letter grades only.
Prerequisite: Undergraduate-level fluid mechanics (MAE 3230 or BEE 3310 /CEE 3310 , CHEME 3230 or equivalent) or permission of instructor. Offered alternate years.
Staff.
Examines the fundamental dynamics and processes of laminar and turbulent multiphase flows. While emphasis is on computational techniques for two-phase flows, extensive use will be made of experimental results to guide the discussion. Topics include liquid-gas dynamics (including fundamental flow instabilities, liquid atomization, spray dynamics, and phase change) and particle-laden flows (including mesoscale dynamics, Lagrangian and Eulerian representations, and modeling considerations).
