NBA 5921 - Experience in International Management: Europe

Summer. 2 credits.

Johnson School students will not receive credit for summer or winter session courses offered through Continuing Education.

E. Iankova.

The key objective of this course is to introduce students to Europe from three major perspectives: first, economic - with a focus on the deepening processes of economic integration and the creation of a European single currency, the Euro; second, socio-political - with a focus on the European common institutions and policies, as well as rich and diverse cultural heritage; and third, business - with an emphasis on the specifics of doing business in a culturally diverse region with strong integrative processes.
We will visit a diverse set of institutions and companies in four European countries - Germany, France, Switzerland and Italy. We will start the trip in Frankfurt, Germany, the largest financial center in continental Europe and home to the European Central Bank. Then we will move to Strasbourg, France, which is the official seat of the European Parliament and many other European organizations. After France we will visit two cities in Switzerland: Basel, a major industrial center for the chemical and pharmaceutical industries; and Zurich, a leading global city and home to a large number of banking giants. Finally, we will visit Milan - the main industrial, commercial and financial center of Italy and a major world fashion center.
