PSYCH 3500 - Statistics and Research Design (MQR-AS) Fall, summer. 3-4 credits, variable. Student option grading.
Forbidden Overlap: Students may receive credit for only one course in the following group: AEM 2100 , BTRY 3010 , BTRY 6010 , ENGRD 2700 , HADM 2010 , ILRST 2100 , ILRST 6100 , MATH 1710 , PAM 2100 , PAM 2101 , PSYCH 3500, SOC 3010 , STSCI 2100 , STSCI 2150 , STSCI 2200 . Enrollment limited to: 120 students. Calculus is not required. The 4-credit version includes instruction in the use of the statistical software package R.

In a complex environment with many sources of variability, how can one tell with confidence whether a particular observed effect is real? And how much confidence is appropriate? This course introduces the principles of statistical description and inference as strategies to answer these questions, with emphasis on methods of principal relevance to psychology and the behavioral and neural sciences.
