This course is a graduate seminar in comparative politics. The goals of the course are for (1) students to learn about old and newer literature that discusses key outcomes in Western European history, and (2) for students to produce research that meets contemporary standards of political science research. We will study historical variation in democratization, redistribution, and inequality, focusing on evidence from Western Europe.
