NBAE 6250 - Business, Government and the Global Economy Summer. 2 credits. Letter grades only (no audit).
Enrollment limited to: students enrolled in the Cornell Executive MBA Metro New York Degree program.
M. Busch.
This course is about the political economy of international trade and investment. It examines the interaction of firms and governments in the global economy, focusing on trade- and investment-related measures, and the rules pertaining to these measures. The rules, and the possibility of litigation over their interpretation, are the centerpiece of the course. To this end, the course surveys topics ranging from protectionism (i.e., tariffs and nontariff barriers) to rights and obligations under the World Trade Organization (WTO), bilateral investment treaties and the preferential trade agreements that often extend more stringent rules than the multilateral system.
