Co-meets with ANTHR 4072 /ARKEO 4072 .
S. Papazian.
In an increasingly transnational age, conflict is an inevitable outcome of global interactions. This course is meant to allow students to understand how different forms of conflict affect heritage. The course material will cover what happens to heritage during and after conflict. Forms of conflict that will be covered will include war, terrorism, genocide, and forms of structural violence. By narrowing the lens to heritage specifically associated with or drawn into conflict, this class will unpack the social, political, and economic ramifications associated with these sites of difficult heritage.
