BIOG 1190 - Introduction to General Biology

This course provides students with the necessary foundational knowledge and skills to continue studies in general biology in the pre-medical curriculum of the six-year medical program. Students will have the necessary biological language ability to enter the six-year medical program including reading and comprehending a college text, summarizing text material and identifying key concepts. Through the study of basic cellular level process, students can advance to organism and population level study.

Outcome 1: Students will be able to demonstrate a basic understanding of molecular and cellular biology.

Outcome 2: Students will be able to demonstrate a basic understanding of evolution and the diversity of life.

Outcome 3: Students will be able to demonstrate the basic lab skills needed for the practical study of general biology.

Outcome 4: Students will be able to communicate important biological concepts clearly using the correct terminology, and express opinions and knowledge of the subject with clarity.
