MATH 5200 - Differential Equations and Dynamical Systems Fall. 3 credits. Student option grading.
Forbidden Overlap: due to an overlap in content, students will receive credit for only one course in the following group: MAE 5790 , MATH 4200 , MATH 4210 , MATH 5200. Prerequisite: MATH 2210 -MATH 2220 , MATH 2230 -MATH 2240 , MATH 1920 -MATH 2940 , or equivalent. Enrollment limited to: graduate students. Students will be expected to be comfortable writing proofs. More experience with proofs may be gained by first taking a 3000-level MATH course. Co-meets with MATH 4200 .
Staff.
Covers ordinary differential equations in one and higher dimensions: qualitative, analytic, and numerical methods. Emphasis is on differential equations as models and the implications of the theory for the behavior of the system being modeled and includes an introduction to bifurcations.
