HADM 7230 - Corporate Finance


     
Fall. 3 credits. Letter grades only (no audit).

The course will provide students with a broad understanding of managerial finance. The overall objective is to develop skills in using accounting and cash flow information for financial planning, capital budgeting evaluation, long-term financial decision-making, and capital structure decisions. Topics will include valuation of investments, capital budgeting decisions, capital structure, long-term financing, cost of capital, debt capacity, and raising capital in the public markets.

Outcome 1: Students will critically evaluate a hospitality management problem and formulate a solution based on principles from a least two management disciplines.

Outcome 2: Students will analyze a management situation within a global hospitality context and defend a course of action.

Outcome 3: Students will create professional-quality written business documents.

Outcome 4: Students will plan and deliver a professional-quality oral presentation.

Outcome 5: Students will demonstrate effective behaviors within a diverse team based on their analysis of team needs.

Outcome 6: Students will recognized and distinguish the ethical dimensions of a business decision.

Outcome 7: Students will evaluate the ethical consequences of their business decisions on various stakeholders.
