Course Offerings

The American Indian and Indigenous Studies program offers a minor in American Indian and Indigenous Studies to undergraduate students in any college at Cornell. The minor is earned upon the completion of five courses: AIIS 1100  and AIIS 1110 , plus at least three other courses from the AIIS curriculum, for a minimum total of 15 credit hours. The three additional courses must include one course from Group A (arts and humanities) and one course from Group B (social and natural sciences) as listed below. One of the courses offered toward the minor must be at the 3000 or 4000 level. Only one 3-credit independent study (AIIS 4970 ) may count toward the minor. Only program-listed courses for which the student has earned a letter grade of C or better will be counted toward the minor. No courses taken for S/U credit or first-year writing seminar will count toward the minor. Students seeking to minor in American Indian and Indigenous Studies or determine the eligibility of a course are encouraged to contact Urszula Piasta-Mansfield, Ph.D., at ump4@cornell.edu. Application materials for the minor may also be obtained from the AIIS office, 4th floor, Caldwell Hall. Students are also advised to consult the website: aiisp.cornell.edu for the most up-to-date listings of course offerings and a digital copy of the application.
