One-Year Residential MBA

Overview

Johnson’s full-time One-Year MBA program in Ithaca offers a sequenced, yet flexible, curriculum, which includes the option to take courses at Cornell Tech in New York City. Students not only learn foundational business principles but also skills related to the industry that makes the most sense for their career advancement as they choose electives. Core Courses (20.5 credits)

Students must take all of the following:

• NCC 5010 - Data Analytics and Modeling  
• NCC 5020 - Microeconomics for Management  
• NCC 5030 - Marketing Management  
• NCC 5040 - Leading Teams  
• NCC 5050 - Critical and Strategic Thinking  
• NCC 5060 - Managerial Finance  
• NCC 5080 - Managing Operations  
• NCC 5090 - Strategy  

Leadership Elective (1.5 credits)

Students must take one of the following as a letter grade:

• NBA 5140 - Ethics and Corporate Culture  
• NBA 6030 - Strategies for Sustainability  
• NBA 6040 - Finance and Ethics  
• NBA 6130 - Women and Leadership  
• NBA 6540 - Power and Politics in Organizations  
• NBA 6650 - The Strategic Management of Technology and Innovation  
• NBA 6710 - Ethical Decision Making in Management  
• NBA 6870 - Leading Across Differences: Understanding Identity, Dialogue, and Influence  

Elective Courses (38 credits)

Students may take any graduate level courses offered at Cornell (5000 level or above). At least 25 credits must be within the SC Johnson College of Business (AEM, BPRE, HADM, NBA, NBAY, NMI). Students in the one-year MBA are awarded advanced standing on the basis of a previously completed degree/certification. These advanced standing credits are subtracted from the elective course requirement.
