Program Description

The Chemical Engineering major is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET. A major in Chemical Engineering is a rigorous mix of chemistry, engineering, research, and electives readies you for careers in a variety of industries - pharmaceuticals, petroleum, electronics, consumer-products, food-processing and more. Our graduates excel in top schools and industries and quickly move up to key technical and managerial roles.

Academic Standards

Academic Standing

Chemical Engineering Majors must meet the following criteria for good standing at the end of each semester:

  • Semester GPA greater than or equal to 2.0
  • Cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 2.2
  • GPA greater than or equal to 2.2 each semester in required chemical engineering courses 
  • At most, one grade below C- in required chemical engineering courses during the undergraduate program
  • No failing grades
  • Students must make adequate progress toward the degree requirements

When Chemical Engineering Majors are not in good standing their academic performance will be reviewed by the Chemical Engineering faculty, which may result in an academic warning, a required leave of absence or withdrawal from the college.
