Program Description

The interdisciplinary Information Science Minor explores how people interact with technology, bridging humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. Students from any Cornell college can choose a concentration that aligns with their interests and career goals.

The minor is open to all Cornell undergraduates, except Information Science (IS) or Information Science, Systems, and Technology (ISST) majors.

Minor requirements might vary slightly depending on a student’s enrolling college and/or major, as outlined in the curriculum tab.

Academic Standards

Program Policies

  • No course substitutions or petitions are allowed.

  • No transfer credit or study abroad credits are accepted for the minor.

  • Courses cannot count more than once within the minor.

  • Given the overlap of INFO courses in the IS Minor (Data Science concentration) and the Data Science Minor, students cannot declare both.

Each course must be completed with a grade of C (not C-) or better to count toward the minor.
