Adoption of the products of biotechnology is causing global changes in agricultural production systems and associated lightly managed ecosystems. Social movements have arisen to contest the adoption of transgenic or genetically modified organisms. Students will critically assess the science behind this debate and examine the interplay between science, society, and politics.
