MAE 4660 - Biomedical Engineering Analysis of Metabolic and Structural Systems(crosslisted) (also BME 4010 ) Fall. 3 credits.
Prerequisites: ENGRD 2020 Mechanics of Solids and previous course work in biology or permission of instructor.

Outcome 1: Students will understand anatomic and structural components of cardiovascular, respiratory, musculoskeletal, and renal systems.
Outcome 2: Be able to analyze the heart and blood vessels as compliance and resistance vessels.
Outcome 3: Understand gas flow and oxygen transport in the lung.
Outcome 4: Be able to apply models of elasticity and viscoelasticity to musculoskeletal tissues.
Outcome 5: Understand osmotic and electrostatic contributions to properties of soft tissues.
