Various versions of modernism became ascendant in the culture and politics of much of the world during the 20th century. In Asia the impact of modernism has been resisted by philosophical and religious traditions that critique aspects of modernism on moral grounds. This seminar will explore the ethical implications of modernism and of major forms of resistance to modernism in Asia. (SC)
