Provides an introduction to the Earth’s upper atmosphere. Emphasizes background atmospheric and ionospheric structure, neutral dynamics in the mesosphere and thermosphere, and ionospheric composition, energetics, dynamics, and electrodynamics. Topics of interest include gravity, Rossby, gravity, and planetary waves, convective and dynamical instability.
