ASRC 3116 - Advanced Zulu I @ Satisfies Option 1. Fall. 4 credits.
Prerequisite: ASRC 2117 .
S. Mkhonza.
Zulu, known by native speakers as IsiZulu, is one of the 11 official languages of South Africa. Out of the four Nguni languages (Zulu, Xhosa, Swati, and Ndebele), Zulu is the most widely spoken. The advantage of learning IsiZulu is that it forms the basis for understanding the other Nguni languages. This is a (two-semester sequence) intermediate course that will help students to expand their understanding of the Zulu language through the communicative approach. It will focus on the four skills, speaking, listening, reading and writing. Advanced work focuses on reading and speaking spontaneously and composing in Zulu.
